Brasher Socks are Designed for Walkers
Walking with for any sort of distance will often result in the obvious blistering of your feet. This in turn can mean you have to stop walking and perhaps even cut you walk short or suffer the consequences of continuing. While it’s fairly acceptable to have aching feet after a very lengthy stroll it’s nice to have your feet recovered and fit again the next day. Brasher socks are something that can help this become a possibility.
Often the sock is the least considered part of footwear when deciding on what to put on your feet for a good hike. If you were to ask nearly every rambler you saw for a long time what they would recommend you put on your feet then most of them would come out with a certain type of boot or shoe. What lots and lots of people don’t realise when they start walking long distances is that it’s actually your sock that is in direct contact with your person.
The importance of having a good pair of socks on your feet cannot be stressed enough and after walking over long distances and up to various peaks with different types the reasons become more apparent. IT all depends often on which season you are in as to which sock you need to wear. Now years ago, having different socks for different seasons would have been considered a little strange but it really does matter.
For instance, the Coolmax fibres which are in Brasher socks allow the moisture in your foot area to be taken away from the skin and the sock also lets air travel through which makes hiking in hot weather a much more pleasant experience. You can also cover much greater distances because with no moisture being retained next to the skin, you have a lot less cause for a blister.
Obviously there are other uses that this summer time sock would be wholly inappropriate for but there are other designs that are available for all situations. Just take the Merino wool and Meraklon fibres that are available in the ‘four season’ variety of socks. These are designed to provide maximum warmth in the winter months but they are also designed to wick away the moisture which is every walker’s worst enemy.
To accompany the range of Brasher Socks you can also use the 100% Tactel Microfibre sock liner that is used to which is fast at wicking away moisture and just as fast at drying too. This is said to be thinner and stronger than silk. This may be true but the lining does provide that extra layer of protection when most needed.
